In partnership with the Comité ZIP Haut-Saint-Laurent, COBAVER-VS was responsible of raising awareness of sport fishers and boaters to invasive alien species, from September 2013 to March 2014.
Many awareness-raising activities were performed through different events in the region:
- 15 September 2013 : Pike fishing tournament, Les Cèdres
- 25 January 2014 : Ice fishing tournament, Club Amical chasse et pêche, Saint-Lazare
- 1 February 2014 : Village des pêcheurs, Centre de pêche C.R., Pointe-des-Cascades
- 8 February 2014 : Association des pêcheurs et chasseurs les Rapides, Coteau-du-Lac
- 9 February 2014 : Village des pêcheurs, Centre de pêche Ronald Lauzon, Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot
- 16 February 2014 : Village des pêcheurs, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield
- 22 February 2014 : Information booth, Maison Optimiste, Saint-Zotique
Factsheets and information booklets were also distributed at these activities and at municipalities, cities and marinas in the region. Interpretive panels were also offered to interested cities and municipalities.
